COMPETITIVE TEAM
Competitive team membership is for the child who wants more of the sport than can be achieved by participation in our recreational program.
Membership in our competitive team program results when a child has completed a testing process and is invited to the team. Competitive team requires more dedication and commitment on the part of the child, the parent and the coaching staff.

ABOUT XCEL GYMNASTICS
The Xcel levels include Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum and Diamond.
One of the main differences between D.P. and Xcel are the rules. Xcel has adapted the rules of Optional D.P. program (Level 6-10) while allowing skills from both the Compulsory (Levels 2-5) and Optional (Levels 6-10) program. In the Xcel program, you have a wide range of skills you are allowed to compete, whereas in the D.P. program you are required to compete a certain set of skills.
Compared to our D.P. competitive teams, our Xcel program is a lesser time commitment, geared towards gymnasts who love to do gymnastics but want a less rigid and strict schedule.
Xcel team members are expected to attend practices and competitions throughout the training and competitive seasons.
Silver: Equivalent to Levels 3 and 4
Gold: Equivalent to Levels 4, 5, and 6
Platinum: Equivalent to Levels 6, 7, and 8

LEVEL ADVANCEMENT
In order for current Xcel gymnasts to move up to the next level they need to perform the skills for that level, by themselves, consistently, and safely.
Though Xcel is a separate program from our D.P. (Developmental Program) teams, the means in which gymnastics and skill progression is taught is the same — Gymnasts will be taught new skills through a series of exercises and drills focused on developing strength, flexibility and body awareness, and are expected to master fundamental skills before being allowed to advance to a more difficult movement.
September - November | Pre- season:
Gymnasts will be working on skills for the next level and will be tested every month on these skills.
December - May | Competition season:
Gymnasts will participate in an intrasquad competition, invitational meets, and State and Regional Championships if they qualify.
June - August | Post- season :
Gymnasts will start to work on skills for the next level by doing drills and and reviewing basics. In August, there will be a parent meeting to provide them with a progress report on their training and discuss any concerns.
